Located on 5th Avenue, across from Central Park, on the Museum Mile, this apartment sits on the ground floor of a prestigious Manhattan building. Residents such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis previously occupied this address.
The project consisted of a complete gut renovation, transforming the dated interiors into a large 3-bedroom family apartment. The layout houses an entry foyer, master bedroom suite, living room, and formal dining room. The corner apartment had its own challenges in making sure that natural light was present throughout and that being on the ground floor foot traffic on the street could not interfere with privacy. As a solution, shutters with louvres were installed that gave the privacy required but did not restrict the light to enter. Traditional materials and styles were applied in keeping with the historic building without the compromise of the warmth one would expect for a family home.
